The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge is simply amazing. The art alone is incredible with paintings from Picasso, Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyck and as in the photograph above Hockney.
Venus and Mars by Botticelli has to be seen. But the history and the detail behind that painting is even more incredible. Some may look for a few seconds and move on but there is much more to learn.
The museum is free to visit and allows photography. These images were taken with my budget Canon 40D and a 24mm f2.8 pancake lens.
