Robert & Sarah
Hautbois Hall is a quite unique wedding venue. Set in rural Norfolk, it offers lots of space and a certain charm. Visually the hall is stunning and makes for a perfect back drop to any wedding. At the back of the hall is a court yard (with a fountain) that leads off the the rooms where the bride (Sarah) was getting ready with her two bridesmaids.
Robert was enjoying his time with the grooms men sharing a fine bottle of whiskey whilst getting ready and handing out presents.
With the open air wedding ceremony starting at 2.00 pm the bride was perfectly on time. Signing of the wedding register takes place inside the hall. Once completed the bride and groom lead the way to drinks. At this stage, I prefer to let the bride and groom relax and enjoy being newly married with their family and friends. Formal wedding photographs are important, but I like to get them finished really fast. Anymore than 15 to 20 minutes is too long. I have a formula and process to get them completed as quickly as possible.
After Richard and Sarah were formally announced into their wedding breakfast I left everyone alone to enjoy their meal.
After the wedding speeches a magician was waiting in the courtyard to entertain the guests with magic tricks.
In America, it’s the norm the wedding photographer gets up to two hours to take wedding portraits of the couple alone together. In the UK it might be ten to 20 minutes. But I pre plan and that’s all the time I need. With Robert and Sarah we decided on two ten minute slots.
I had to get them back to the magician who was waiting to do his big final trick for the bride and groom.
Although it doesn’t look like it the light was going down fast and the sky was turning blue and orange. At this point Richard, Sarah and I went for a walk alone together for more photographs.
Just as I was about to take the image at the very start of this blog post it started to rain. As I looked behind a rainbow was arcing over the tree and the setting sun was casting a golden orange light on the tree.
If you’re having a wedding at Hautbois Hall please feel free to get in touch to see more wedding photographs.
